Buy local wood, support the land, support the community Why can't you purchase local wood (like Fir) these days? Why is wood so expensive and low quality? Why is it not really worth selling your wood if you are a small forestland owner? Why are loggers losing their jobs?
The Woodshed is a project near and dear to the heart of Mallorie, this has been in the works for years to address problems she encounters in managing small forests and help develop a local chain of custody working with a select group of contractors on timber harvests. Mallorie is passionate about building resilient local economies and connecting communities to local wood that has been sustainably managed and sourced.
The goal of the woodshed is to sell wood from small harvests in rural communities back into the community to reduce wood waste, reduce transportation, and create a sustainable local wood economy. The woodshed is looking to unearth, upend and pioneer change in an industry that has been largely dominated by big timber. Giving local forestland owners and communities the means to shorten the supply chain and give the community access to local timber resources.
The woodshed is currently under development, however please contact us to discuss wood buying options and how we can meet the needs for your project.
